We are fast approaching that time of the year when families make their summer pilgrimage to Hilton Head to enjoy our fabulous beaches, great restaurants and island full of fun outdoor activities for the whole family.

No matter your preference or your budget, Hilton Head has something for everyone. Pickleball is one activity in which the whole family can participate.
Last week, a father approached me and asked if his two children could join my beginner clinic and round robin. Matt was 14, but his sister Elizabeth was only 12. While normally we only allow teenagers in our clinics and round robins. I asked if Elizabeth had played any tennis. Her Dad apologetically answered no. He quickly ran through a litany of sports she played, including basketball, lacrosse and ice hockey. I was most interested in the last two since they involve blocking or catching a high-velocity object.
Suffice it to say, Elizabeth was a ray of sunshine.
She listened to my instructions on serving, court positioning and shot selection, and then her raw competitive spirit took over. By the end of the session, she was playing with the best players in the group and did more than hold her own. During the last game, I approached her parents. I asked them why they were standing behind the fence watching. Their response was priceless: “We had no idea what Pickleball was or how much fun it is to play!”
Try one of our beginner clinics and round robins and join the Revolution!
