Hilton Head Choral Society (HHCS) is the longest-running performing arts organization in the community.
Founded in 1975, The Hilton Head Choral Society (HHCS) is an open membership for those who love to sing and enjoy good fellowship. We are the longest-running performing arts organization in the community.
HHCS’s repertoire includes major classical and contemporary works, as well as seasonal favorites. The ensemble presents four major concerts per season – a Fall Pops Concert, a Christmas Concert, a Masterworks/Classics Concert, and a Memorial Day concert honoring America and our Armed Forces with patriotic music. A typical performance may total over 150 singers and musicians, performed for audiences up to 900 strong.
Performance pieces range from Opera to Broadway, Classical to Pops, as well as commissioned works by world-class composers. Concerts are held at the First Presbyterian Church and Holy Family Catholic Church. Both places have amazing acoustics and are beautiful concert venues.
The Hilton Head Choral Society welcomed Dr. Dustin C. Ousley as the new Artistic Director for the 2022-23 season.
Dustin brings with him years of experience studying, teaching, participating in, and directing musical performances in a variety of settings. He has a Bachelor of Arts in Music from Furman University, a Master of Music in Choral Conducting from UNC-Greensboro and a Doctorate of Music Arts from University of South Carolina.
The HHCS is also known for its community involvement and outreach performances. They are a non-profit organization, funded in part by the South Carolina Arts Commission, which receives support from the National Endowment for the Arts. The Hilton Head Choral Society is a member of Chorus America, a national organization promoting the art of choral singing. The primary source of financial support comes from concert ticket sales, member dues, patrons, donors, sponsors, and grants.
