Hilton Head Island offers many places to make memories to cherish and share.
From the top of the Lighthouse to storied statues and king-sized kid spots, these spots are sure to produce keepsakes of the Island and make your Instagram posts pop!
1. Harbour Town Lighthouse:
Completed in 1970, the Harbour Town Lighthouse‘s candy-striped, hexagonal structure has become synonymous with Hilton Head Island. It rises 93 feet above the Calibogue Sound and frames the 18th hole of the Harbour Town Golf Links. Once you climb to the peak of the lighthouse, you’ll be amazed by the panoramic view of Hilton Head Island and its surrounding water, marsh, fairway, and harbor.
2. King Neptune Statue:
The towering 12-foot bronze statue of Neptune, which doubles as a larger-than-life sundial, serves as an iconic symbol of Shelter Cove Harbour at Palmetto Dunes.
3. Man Walks with Gator Statue:
Located in the Compass Rose Park, this statue replicates the 1962 photograph of Sea Pines developer Charles Fraser walking alongside the legendary gator, Albert. The photo, published in the Saturday Evening Post, is said to have put Hilton Head Island on the map, changing the area forever.
4. Adventure Ship at Lowcountry Celebration Park:
Set sail aboard the Adventure, a 1,400-square-foot ship! The centerpiece of the Park’s playground, this ship is named for the vessel that explorer Capt. William Hilton traveled on to Hilton Head Island in 1663.
5. The Skull Creek Boathouse’s Big Chair:
Located on the banks of Skull Creek, The Boathouse is an Island favorite. The restaurant says this big chair “requires a big drink.” With a breathtaking water view behind it, this enormous Adirondack makes for a great photo op.
