The Sea Pines Resort has created a new charitable fund in partnership with The Community Foundation of the Lowcountry, The Sea Pines Resort Community Fund.

The Fund provides support to local charities and community investments in the Lowcountry. The focus will be on addressing local community needs, including the protection and preservation, of the natural environment, while improving quality of life for residents and visitors. In the future, scholarship opportunities may also be added.
The fund will provide additional resources to reinforce The Sea Pines Resort’s history of giving back to the Lowcountry through charitable investments in programs and projects. For example, The RBC Heritage PGA Tour sponsors the Heritage Classic Foundation and takes place in the Resort every April. Since its founding in 1987, the Heritage Classic Foundation has donated $52.9 million to charities.
“While The Sea Pines Resort has always supported the community through charitable giving, this new fund allows us to increase our impact and to create a more deliberate mission to give back to our community,” said Steve Birdwell, President, of the Sea Pines Resort.
The Sea Pines Forest Preserve, located right in the Resort is one recipient of the fund.
The Sea Pines Forest Preserve Foundation supports conservation efforts in the Preserve, which is the largest tract of undeveloped land on Hilton Head Island. The National Audubon Society designates it as an important bird area. The Foundation is dedicated to preserving the preserve for future generations. They support activities like wildflower planting, fish stocking, trail maintenance, and ecosystem management to enhance the preserve’s health and amenities
The Sea Pines Resort and the 501(c)(3) non-profit Sea Pines Forest Preserve Foundation jointly own and manage a property that boasts walking trails, wetland boardwalks, picnic areas, observation decks, fishing lakes, and a 4,000-year-old Indian shell ring recognized on the National Register of Historic Places. Guided tours and activities such as boat tours, wagon tours and horseback trail rides are available within this unique preserve.
The Sea Pines Resort Community Fund will continue to support deserving organizations:
- Boys & Girls Club of Hilton Head Island
- Volunteers in Medicine Clinic
- Deep Well Project
- Arts Center of Coastal Carolina
- Hilton Head Regional Habitat for Humanity
- Family Promise of Beaufort County
