Spend time on the golf course this month to refine your swing and perfect your putt.

May is the perfect month to improve your golf skills on Hilton Head Island. The temperatures are ideal and there are endless opportunities to tee off at one of the Island’s many courses.
Here is a quick overview of why golf is such an incredible sport, offering so many benefits.
M – Magnificent opportunities.
Golf offers the chance to experience the joy of striking a golf ball and seeing it fly, piercing the blue sky. The sound of a properly struck ball will become addictive: the swoosh of the swing, the loud click of the impact and the air-cutting sound of the ball racing away. It’s exhilarating and uplifting. At this time of year, the weather is excellent on Hilton Head Island, with temperatures ranging from 64 to 82 degrees. In May, we typically average only six rain days.
A – Atmosphere.
The atmosphere of golf combines the best of gentle hiking with spending time at your favorite bar, attending church or strolling through a local fair with friends. All of these environments are uplifting and relaxing. Best of all, they help to restore your body and soul. Time on the course is time well spent!
Y – Youthful.
Golf helps you stay youthful, if you play golf correctly. Brain mapping has revealed to scientists what happens in the brain when we are engaged in activities like golf. Electrical impulses from the different parts of the brain light up the monitors, showing the areas of the brain that are involved in that activity. Walking and hiking typically show softer lights, compared to a light aerobic exercise class. Reading a novel for pleasure is less brilliant than a doctor reviewing and studying a patient’s records. Brain mapping also reveals how the different parts of the brain interact, as well as the sequence and organization of various areas of the brain.
Golf activates all parts of the brain because it includes creative, physical and logical thoughts. You have to imagine each shot, which engages the creative part of the brain. That part of your brain has to coordinate with the logical parts, and the parts that connect to the body. You can stay younger by creating interaction and encouraging connection between all parts of your brain.
I hope you’ll take advantage of the magnificent opportunities to play golf on Hilton Head Island, the incredible atmosphere that can restore your spirit and a game that can help keep you youthful.
Enjoy every moment on the course this month. I hope to see you out on the green!
